I have been all too delinquent in getting out to see the band. Tonight, at Precinct, right from the first song, it reminded me of bringing home that first Blondie LP when it came out and — WHAMMO — it was the Shangri-Las 12 years on. Seeing LaLa Brooks was an added bonus; I was only 7 or 8 when most of the Crystals songs charted and I could actually feel tears of pure jopy welling up, she was that amazing. Learning that she was only 15 when she cut “Da Do Ron Ron” revealed her age but she could have easily been mistaken for a woman in her 40s. I wonder: how many guys were absolutely smitten tonight? I know I sure was.
